About Me

My name is William Brewer. I am a husband, father of Logan (dog) and Cobweb (Cat), lover of all animals and Seahawks season ticket holder. I am an attorney in both California and Washington and I specialize in litigation and equine law: http://www.williambrewerlawoffices.com

My passion in life is the entire Thoroughbred industry, especially the industry in Washington. I am the Owner/Manager of Brewer Thoroughbreds, LLC. Brewer Thoroughbreds plans to breed and sell Thoroughbred horses intended for racing in the State of Washington and possibly Kentucky. At a later date, the goal is to get involved in other facets of the industry like pinhooking and Stallion shares.

I am also an avid handicapper and “investor“ in Pick 4s and 5s. I have been handicapping for over 25 years and find it more intellectually stimulating than anything else I have ever experienced. I focus on the following things when I consider what "investments" I am going to make:

(1) Takeout Rate
(2) Quality of Field
(3) Field Size
(4) Pool Size (the Handle for the bet)

Because of these considerations I tend to bet the Pick 5 at the Southern California tracks (because of the low takeout at 14%). I also bet Emerald Downs races because of my familiarity with the racetrack, low takeout on win bets, and my desire to help out the owners, horses, trainers, breeders and jockeys in our state.

I am currently the Vice President of the Washington Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association and a board member of the Washington Thoroughbred Foundation (My views in this blog are solely my own).

I believe there are four priorities in order for horse racing to survive:

(1) Looking out for the welfare of our horses
(2) Increasing our handle - Especially live handle on live races.
(3) Increasing owners
(4) Having a financially viable racetrack

If we put these four things first everybody else will benefit: trainers, grooms, vets, breeders, etc.
