Fifth Weekend - Washington Bred Winners

Usually after a day of watching races, I come home in a good mood. However, on Saturday I dreaded coming home to have to tell Cobweb that Mr. Top Kat did not win on Saturday. This is the reaction I got:

A few things of note:

(1) Washington-bred horses accounted for 98 out of the 170 horses entered last weekend.
      (2) Washington-bred horses won 16 of the 26 races last weekend.

Race 1 Friday: Won by Mister Messenger in 59.15 for 5 Furlongs. Mister Messenger is by Parker’s Storm Cat out of Casey’sirishqueen (Pencil Point). Casey’sirishqeen won over $124,000 and was a Multiple Stakes Winner at Yakima and Playfair. She was a good runner. Here is her Equibase profile:

Race 2 Friday: Won by Say Say in 1:11.72, which was the fastest 6 Furlong time on Friday (see chart below). By Private Gold out of Knight Weave (Basket Weave), Say Say has won almost $50,000.  Private Gold stands at El Dorado Farm:

Say Say's sibling Knight Club won during Week 3 of the meet. Knight Weave is the dam of the Knight Raider who was a very good two-year-old.

Race 3 Friday: Won by Cantcatchme in 1:04.75. By the prolific Harbor the Gold and out of Kaaaching (River Special), Cantcatchme cut out some serious fractions in his last race before finishing second, so his victory in this race was no surprise. Harbor the Gold keeps on rolling:

Race 4 Friday:  Won by House of Hope in 1:19.07 for 6.5 Furlongs. By Houseofroyalhearts and out of Jaye’s Hope (Line in the Sand), House of Hope sat off the pace and then pounced on the speed at the top of the stretch.

Houseofroyalhearts, whose sire Chester House was an outstanding sire that died way too young, stands at Magnum Farm:

Race 6 Friday: Won in a dead heat by Parkers Bluff in 1:11.80 for 6 Furlongs. Parkers Bluff is by Parker’s Storm Cat out of Keep on Bluffing (Pine Bluff).  Keep on Bluffing has a foal by Well Informed.

Race 3 Saturday: Hip Hop City (aka Enumclaw) wins again this season in 1:10.47 for 6 Furlongs. Hip Hop City was helped by a very fast pace (at least for Saturday it was) ran by He’s All Heart (21.93 and 44.88 were the fastest ¼ mile and ½ mile fractions on the day. See chart below). Hip Hop City, by Waiting Game and out of Hip Hop Blue (Star de Naskra), was claimed out of the race.

Race 6 Saturday:  Won by Ms P K Blue in 1:11.03 for 6 Furlongs. Second win of the meet for Ms P K Blue and the third win of the meet for the mare Bluledo who is also the dam of Stikine Slough. Really beginning to like this mare. The mare has a two-year old named Brewingintheblue by Harbor the Gold and there is another yearling Harbor the Gold from the mare.

Race 9 Saturday: Won by Medicinegoin’down in 1:12.05. By the retired Delineator and out of Marquet Poppin (Marquetry), Medicine won for Owner/Breeder Daniel McCanna.

Race 1 Sunday: Won by Sunshine Candy in 1:12.28 for 6 Furlongs. By Ginny’s Sunshine out of Miss Candy Too (Mr. Greeley), this appears to be the last foal out of the mare.

Race 2 Sunday: A 7-length victory for Spit and Shine in a swift 1:10.19 for 6 Furlongs considering it was a $7,500 State-bred Maiden claiming race. By the Munger’s Nacheezmo and out of Only Mine (Barbaric Spirit), Nacheezmo stands at the Munger’s farm:

There is a two-year old filly that is a full to Spit and Shine that we have to look forward to.

Race 3 Sunday:  Won by Stormin Parker in 1:10.69. By Parker’s Storm Cat, who had several wins this weekend, and out of Sarah’s Game Plan (Game Plan), Stormin Parker won at odds of 17.10 to 1. Sarah’s Game Plan has a two-year old filly by Harbor the Gold.

Race 4  Sunday: Won by the Spooner’s More Strawberries who ran 6 Furlongs in 1:10.07. More Strawberries is a four-year old by Benchmark out of the previously mentioned Ruby Dawn. This Gelding is the older half-brother of Strawberry Dawn who is ranked #1 in my rankings of three-year old fillies at Emerald Downs:

Race 8 Sunday: Won by I Keep Saying in a swift 1:14.56. By Yankee Gentlemen out of Arco Iris (Basket Weave), this horse is raced and owned by Homestretch Farm. Arco Iris has a two-year old and a yearling, both by Harbor the Gold.
